| A whole different side of Jillian!Well, this is definetely a stray from Jillian's other videos. If you have used 30 Day Shred, Banish Fat, and/or No More Trouble Zones, don't really expect the same thing. Jillian still does have her great, encouraging, down-to-business attitude. There are no real circuits in this video, which I was totally prepared for; she mentions circuits once, but it's nothing like the other clear-cut 6 minutes... 5 moves, repeat each move twice (if you're familiar with Jillian, you know what I'm talking about) I also just have to comment on how pretty she looks in this DVD :) No, but seriously, I love Jillian to death, but my kid says she looks "manly" in her other videos, but even my kid said... she looks less mean and manly in this video.
This video is comprised of 2 30 minute workouts. The first one is the reccomended starter and is a little easier than level 2. I was able to keep up with most of the advanced in Level 1, but was dying in Level 2! I could not do the move where you put your elbows on your knees and balance. I was surprised because I am in good shape, but I have never done much yoga at all. My balance is lacking, so I'm hoping that by incorporating this video into my routine, I'll improve. Jillian tells you not to be intimidated, she wanted to give you something to work towards. You can expect to see two gals in the background... one doing advanced and one doing beginner modifications. As always, the advanced demonstrater makes me writhe with envy.
I can't comment much on the technical yoga aspects because as I said, I'm pretty new to it, but don't expect somethig slow moving here. She has taken traditional yoga poses and added movement. You know it wouldn't be Jillian without a little cardio and elevated heart rate, but it's nothing like the heart rates you feel in her other DVDs. She calls it "rep it out." Then you hold the poses for 15 seconds at the end. Some of these feel like MUCH longer than 15 seconds! There are a few Sun Salutations mixed in there, which I was familiar with. There is a nice warm up and cool down included, but the cool down in mainly for the lower body, hips and back. Make sure you do your own thing if you feel the need to stretch out your arms, chest, neck, etc.
Overall, I was happy with this. I think I just have to "get comfortable with being uncomfortable" as Jillan says. I'm glad I tried something new and can fit it into my rotation. It's something for me to work towards :) If you like Jillian, go for it. If you're not sure and you want a unique workout with an encouraging, no BS instructor, then go for it too! Good luck to all!
Oh, by the way, you don't need any equipment except a mat is helpful. It really doesn't require much space either, so you should be fine if you have small quarters. Read more...

| Great workout, even for regular practitionersI've done yoga for years (just as exercise and stress-relief, not to become one of those enviable hard-body professional trainer types.) Having gotten myself completely out of shape and broke over the last year, I figured I'd check out this DVD. How hard could it be if folks who were 100's of pounds overweight were doing it? Famous last words.
This is an excellent workout, both for those who regularly practice yoga and for beginners, as the instructor - Bob Harper - tells you how to turn the intensity up or down depending on your fitness level. Another thing I like is that Bob pretty much hits the ground running, the warm up is quick and effective, no chanting or time spent on philosophy (if you're doing this before work, running late and hoping to squeeze in a cup of coffee afterwords this is much appreciated.:) Also it is surprisingly easy to follow along and correct your form if it's off - I found it easier than in classes, where you are craning your neck around the other students to figure out who is doing it right.
Three small caveats, none enough to individually or collectively detract from the five-star rating: (1) might be worth exploring the notion of breathing a little more. Bob does some of that, but breathing is so intrinsic to a good and productive practice that an additional minute or so would be well spent. (2) For the beginners, a few of the poses are unexplained and might be confusing the first couple of times. Eg, Going right from stretches to downward facing dog - if you didn't know what that was you would have to watch the video and figure out the best way to do it without explanation (and dfd is one of the most important poses there is.) (3) I've only been doing the DVD for a month, but I imagine it would get very repetitive after a while. But this is applicable to ALL exercise DVD's, I would think. Also, it is well worth keeping on the shelf, this is one a yoga fan would likely come back to over and over again. Read more...

| Features• Pregnancy is a most important time for a woman to maintain her physical strength and stamina, and PRENATAL YOGA is a perfect way to keep in shape. These gentle exercises are clearly detailed by instructor Shiva Rea according to Yoga Journal's Prenatal Yoga guidelines. Maintain the energy and stamina which will be needed in the delivery room, along with the concentration that comes with the pra
Excellent purchaseI just completed my first trimester and started looking around for prenatal classes. My gym yoga instructor asked me to join the gentle yoga class since its the same as prenatal. However when I attended I was constantly fearing that I was the only pregnant woman there and some moves I did were no-no for pregnant women. Another place I called charged 15$/class. Thats when I decided to buy the CD and practice yoga at home. The CD is broken down into 4 sections - breathing/warm up, standing, sitting and relxation all for 50 mins. Right now I have decided to start with warm up and end with relaxation and switch between standing and sitting on alternate days. I like how the Cd has 3 instructors- one in each trimester and how they modify the poses accordingly. The music is relaxing and so is the way the instructor talks. A few places I have noticed the instructions are quick, and you need to watch the screen but I think once you get used to it you will not have to look at your TV. Read more...

| Features• Innovative personal workout system • Helps tone abs, shape thighs, and tighten glutes • Includes 3 interactive DVDs: Ride the WAVE, Speed Slimming SCULPT, and Rock it OFF • Compact, easy-to-follow system
Perfect Idea , but DVDs don't live up to it !I purchased the wave after seeing the commercials of course . Who can miss how fun it looks to work out on the wave . It is challanging once your'e on it , but it only comes with 2 DVDs that don't show much variety , I mean you get bored from the 2nd or 3rd time and your body gets kinda used to the challange.
The introductory DVD is just a waste ! They should have included the 10 mins in one of the other DVDs rather than making a big deal about nothing.
I enjoyed working out on the wave mostly when its used AS A WAVE :) hate the dancing around it part too .
One big negative point about it , is that it hurts so bad when you sit or lye on the wave without any covering . The plastic is very harsh and slippery so I have to use the small matt or sometimes another cushion to make the exercises more comfortable.
My overall experience is a 4 , because I feel more routines should be created for such an amazing idea and the material itself should be a bit made a bit softer on the top so sitting on it doesn't feel like sitting on rocks !

Works in unison with the breath for a great workout!I have had this particular dvd for quite some time- more than 2 years. Rodney Yee's Total Body Workout is a graceful power yoga practice that will enhance your well-being and create superior endurance, strength & flexibility. I have been practicing yoga on & off since 1998 but have almost exclusively taken up my practice to include yoga (3x/week vinyasa/power) and walking (3x/week) for the past 6 months. I was into strenuous aerobics & weight training for the better part of a decade and was feeling really burned out & just constantly tired (physically & mentally). I always knew that yoga would center me and create a feeling of inner peace but was pushing myself to the limit with hard core workouts that left me unsatisfied.
Now I practice my yoga and have not only enhanced my fitness level but feel grounded and present in my everyday life. Nothing will make me go back to torturing myself through workouts again. I'm leaner, stronger, more toned and most importantly, I feel finally happy in my own skin. Yoga has become more than exercise but a way of life. I alternate Rodney Yee's DVD, Bryan Kest's Power Yoga trilogy & anything from Shiva Rea for an unbelievable fit body & mind. Namaste, everyone! Read more...
